For the specialized professionals

Inform well to raise awareness

All specialized professionals confirm that LA PREVENTION is the best solution to fight against cranial deformities in babies.

To make parents aware of the prevention of "flat head syndrome", we provide specialist professionals with a preventive information leaflet (free download) to place in your waiting rooms.

Take action against plagiocephaly and other cranial deformities!

Reminder on the measures of the Cranial Indices

Taking measurements of the cranial indices can objectively quantify the deformation of a baby's skull.

These cranial indices are of major interest in diagnosing, evaluating and guiding the treatment of Plagiocephaly and other cranial deformations.

How to measure Plagiocephaly?

rptnb

rptnb

To obtain cranial asymmetry (Plagiocephaly), calculate the CVA (Cranial Vault Asymmetry) score by measuring the difference between the diagonals of the cranial vault.

plagio_cranio

Plagiocephaly (CVA) = A - B (in mm)

Plagiocephaly classification:

Light: from 0 to 6 mm
Moderate: 6 to 12 mm
Severe: more than 12 mm

* between 0 and 3 mm, Plagiocephaly can be considered as Normal

CVAI: Cranial Vault Asymmetry Index

The CVAI is the cranial asymmetry score divided by the larger of the two diagonals measured.
It is very useful because it remains proportional to the growth of the skull and is independent of the age of the baby.

How to measure Brachycephaly?

ptr

rptnb

To measure posterior flattening (Brachycephaly), calculate the CI (Cranial Index) ratio between width (ML) and length (AP).

brachio_cranio

Brachycephaly (IC) = (ML/AP) x100 (in %)

Brachycephaly classification :

Light: 85 to 90%
Moderate: 90 to 95%
Severe: more than 95%

* between 78 and 84%, the Cranial Index is considered as Normal
